The Macallan has revealed a striking new single malt Scotch whisky: The Macallan Diamonds Are Forever 55th Anniversary Release. Created to mark 55 years since the iconic Diamonds Are Forever debuted on the silver screen, the release celebrates shared values of craftsmanship, innovation, and storytelling that unite The Macallan and James Bond.
A Continued Bond Legacy
Following the highly acclaimed The Macallan James Bond 60th Anniversary Release in 2022, this new expression continues the creative partnership between the two legendary brands. Crafted by The Macallan Whisky Maker Russell Greig, the whisky draws direct inspiration from the Diamonds Are Forever narrative — including Bond’s notable knowledge of wine and attention to detail.
Inspired by Intrigue and Duality
Distilled in 2007 and matured for 18 years, the whisky mirrors the intrigue and layered storytelling that define both Bond films and modern innovation. The maturation process features bespoke hybrid casks made from sherry-seasoned European and American oak, complemented by a novel inclusion of American oak casks previously used to mature red wine.
This unconventional cask selection reflects moments in the film where Bond’s command of wine helps uncover vital clues. Together, the casks create a whisky of bold depth and refined sweetness — a true showcase of technical mastery and inventive craftsmanship.

Bottled at 45.5% ABV, the whisky’s natural color evokes the red and orange hues of Aztec sandstone found in the Nevada desert — a subtle nod to the film’s iconic Las Vegas setting. The bottle and presentation box draw directly from Diamonds Are Forever production art housed in the official Bond archives.
From the laser-beam satellite to elements inspired by the opening title sequence, the packaging offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the cinematic world of James Bond, underscoring The Macallan’s mastery of storytelling through both whisky and design.
