The winner of Gold in the 2018 Sip Awards and rated a 92.5 in Jim Murray’s Whiskey Bible of 2019, that is Egan’s Vintage Grain Irish Whiskey. The single grain spirit was hand-selected by Jonathan V. Egan, upholding the sixth generation of the family with whiskey in their blood. This particular whiskey is triple-distilled and casked in American Oak bourbon barrels ( dated- 2009) prior to its 2017 bottling at 92 proof.
Egan’s Vintage Grain Tasting Notes
Nose- Honey and vanilla along with refreshing notes of light melon like cantaloupe or honeydew joined with the bitter sweetness of ethanol
Palate- A thinner texture that surprisingly distributes evenly in the mouth showing a bit of spice stirred in. Sugary notes of caramel mix with an almost nutty taste similar to walnut.
Finish- Warm yet smooth finish leaving light caramel sweetness on the tongue.
