I recently had the chance to try Posh Altar, a new brand of traditional Mexican spirits, and I have to say—it’s pretty damn good! No artificial additives which is a huge plus!
One thing that surprised me is just how easy it is to drink. A lot of young spirits can be too harsh or overpowering, but not Posh Altar. It has a balanced flavor that’s smooth yet full of character. There’s a sweetness from the corn, a slight smokiness, and just a hint of bite to keep things interesting.
Of all the varieties they offer—Natural, Reposado, Café, Vanilla, and Cacao—the Cacao was hands down my favorite. It’s got this deep, rich chocolatey flavor that feels bold without being too heavy. It reminds me of my days living in the Amazon jungle of Ecuador visiting local coffee shacks and trying their drinks made of local cacao, coffee, and cane sugar. If you like your drinks with a little more complexity and earthiness balanced by the sweet notes of the cane sugar, you’ll love this one.
Overall, Posh Altar brings something really unique to the market. Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for something different and genuinely delicious!
