Old Forester The 117 Series Extra Old 2025 Release
In 1910, a fire on Whiskey Row led to Old Forester being re-barreled into heavily charred barrels. This event gave birth to Old Forester Whiskey Row 1910, composed of mature Old Forester Bourbon, and finished in a custom-made, heavily charred barrel for 7-9 months. This extra old batch extends the finishing period to 18 months.
Tasting Notes:
Aroma: On the nose, this expression showcases chocolate covered cherries, burnt caramel and graham cracker with subtle notes of barrel smoke and creamy butterscotch
Flavor: The palate is balanced and buttery with pops of spiced pear and apple as notes of chocolate and cinnamon graham cracker persist
Finish: A balanced finish presents warm spiced cinnamon, apple skin and lightly charred oak creating a long and flavorful finish

Due to heat-cycled warehousing and our unique maturation environment, occasionally the bagels choose particular barrels from which they take more than their fair share. This Rye whisky is a small batch of these flavorful few that developed unique, concentrated profiles due to higher than average evaporative loss.

Old Forester The 117 Series Prohibition Era Still Proof Bourbon
During Prohibition, Old Forester and five other Kentucky distillers were issued permits to bottle existing whiskey stocks as medicine. In 1930, the federal government granted these distillers a 100-day window to replenish their declining stocks. During this historic period, Old Forester was distilled at 130 proof.

Historically, commercial trade on the Ohio River brought a variety of cask-aged spirits to the wharf behind Old Forester on Whiskey Row. This expression features the finishing of Old Forester is rum barrels, which accentuates the sweet aromatics of bourbon and odds hints of brown sugar and molasses to embolden its rich character.

Tasting Notes:
Nose: Buttery toffee mingles with banana custard, coconut and fresh apple.
Palate: Enters light and quickly expands with rich tropical fruit led by more banana, coconut & toffee supported by dry barrel spice and tannins.
Finish: Long, lazy and dry with a compelling dynamic of creaminess and spice surrounded by plenty of sweet fruit and red licorice.

Old Forester The 117 Series Warehouse H Barrels Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Warehouse H is symbolic of Old Forester’s growth after WWII. Construction on the brick warehouse began in 1946, housing 50,000 barrels. The four-story, eight chamber warehouse was designed to be heat cycled in the winter months when temperatures dropped below 60 degrees and the maturation process ceased. Warehouse H is unusual in its heat cycling profile with the 1st floor sometimes hitting the highest temperatures.

Aged in heat-cycled barrels since 2013 and hand-selected from the warmest floors of Old Forester’s iconic Warehouse I, this limited-edition expression reflects the dedication of assistant master distiller Caleb Trigo and the experimental spirit of the 117 Series.
Master taster Melissa Rift describes this release as “one-of-a-kind” and the perfect holiday bourbon. It offers a luxurious nose of dark honey, peanut brittle, and toasted oak, enhanced by spiced pear, stone fruit, clove, and light-roasted coffee. The palate shines with notes of apricot, orchard fruit, butterscotch, clove, nutmeg, and white pepper, leading to a slightly dry, oaky finish with touches of pear and white pepper.
Bottled at 95 proof (47.5% ABV) in a 375-ml format.

In July 2015, a four-alarm fire ravaged through the buildings on historic Whiskey Row. Teams of brave Louisville first responders were able to contain and extinguish the catastrophe, preserving the site for the Old Forester Distillery at 117/119 West Main. This bottling is a blend of barrels which were filled on July 7, 2015, the day the fire was put out.
