We finished our 4 and 5 year old straight rye whiskies for over 3 years in separate Vino de Naranja, Oloroso Sherry, and Sauternes barrels. The Maryland Whiskey Collective combined these whiskies to deliver a truly distinctive dram. The expression features aromas of orange marmalade, fresh peaches, candied pecans, vanilla beans, and subtle hints of aged leather. Notes of golden raisins, creamy caramel, and dark chocolate complement the classic spice profile of our signature whiskey. Sagamore Reserve Series 9 Year Old Rye
Careful maturation and thoughtful blending are on display in this 9-year-old straight rye whiskey. After aging our rye in new charred American white oak barrels for at least 9 years, we created this blend that has aromas of peach preserves, graham crackers, and dark chocolate. Balancing sweet with spice, this rye whiskey has full flavors of orange zest, pecan pie, peppery honey, and cinnamon toast. Sagamore Rye Double Oak Blended Straight Rye
After aging our high-rye and low-rye whiskeys for 4 to 5 years in high-char new American oak barrels, our distillers blend them and finish whiskey in toasted wave barrels for an additional 18 months. The increased surface ares of the low-char, medium-plus-toast staves import delightful caramel, toffee, hazelnut, and toasted coconut flavors to Sagamore Double Oak Rye. Our classic Maryland-style rye whiskey is reimagined through this innovative aging process and then proofed with limestone-filtered water from Sagamore Farm. The final spirit is a shining example of old meeting new.

We aged our 4-year-old Straight Rye Whiskey for an additional 12 months in Laird & Company Apple Brandy barrels, with the mulling spices inherent to rye partnering perfectly with the bright fruit tones of these brandy barrels, Laird & Company is the oldest licensed distillery in the United States and is known for their apple spirits, made with apples picked at peak ripeness and aged in charred oak barrels. Our 4-year-old Straight Rye Whiskey aged for an additional 12 months in barrels for Orchard Cellar Meadery and Winery’s “Mazer White” mead – a honey-grape pyment, which is a truly special meld of mead and wine. The final product gives honey on the nose but morphs to notes of cinnamon, soft spice, and peppery rye on the palate. This collaboration with our friends at Orchard Cellar shows that mead and rye whiskey go together like bees and honey.

The artisanal process of making traditional Mezcal is as rich as the spirit itself. The regional distinctions of mezcal are as diverse as the myriad of rye whiskeys produced across the United States. We matched the classic smoky and citrus notes of Mezcal with our Maryland-style rye whiskeys palate of cinnamon, clove, and caramel by finishing our blend of 4-year-old straight rye whiskies in 53-gallon Anejo Mezcal barrels for an additional 2 years. The combination is an experience like no other.

Sagamore Spirit Monk Mead Cask Aged Rye
Whisky/Whiskey, American Whiskey, Blended Whiskey, Rye Whiskey, Rye Whiskey, Brands, Sagamore Spirit, AlcoholWe aged our 4-year-old blend of straight rye whiskies in an Orchid Cellar Meadery and Winery’s “Monk” mead barrel for an additional 22 months. This particular 59-gallon barrel originally held mead flavored with rose petals, lemon zest, and other botanicals. We were able to pull these subtle flavors along with lush honey and piquant spice into our rye whiskey. This is our third release in Collaboration with Orchid Cellar, a partnership we hope continues for years to come.
