Lifeguard Tower 11 was iconic and one of my favorites because that was the number I wore on the baseball field as well. It will always be a landmark of my childhood and a place that I hold dear. The California coastline informed so much of the person that I’ve become. This spot was my absolute sanctuary. It wasn’t just a beach, it was my escape. My solitude.

The river has acted as the primary mode of transportation for centuries – allowing corn from the Midwest to be delivered to the Bourbon makers of Kentucky. After distillation, barrels of the finished spirit would float down the river on barges and flatboats to New Orleans and from there, spread across this great land. The river is also the source of the natural, pure limestone-rich water that is unique and necessary for Bourbon making.
The river’s importance in Bourbon history is undeniable, and without it, Bourbon may not have become the beloved American sprint it is today.
