Continuing the Friendsgiving tradition, Sonoma-Cutrer and Woodford Reserve today announce a new $50,000 joint donation to No Kid Hungry, a national campaign dedicated to ending childhood hunger. This donation by the Brown-Forman Corporation-owned brands can help provide up to 500,000 meals* to kids facing food insecurity in the United States.
This year, in addition to the brand’s joint donation, Sonoma-Cutrer will be donating 5% of eCommerce sales made on the brand’s website on Giving Tuesday, November 29, to No Kid Hungry, up to $1,000. Sonoma-Cutrer and Woodford Reserve first partnered with No Kid Hungry in July 2018, and have since donated a total of $250,000 to the campaign.
“At both Sonoma-Cutrer and Woodford Reserve, we are committed to supporting the communities we call home, whether in our own neighborhoods or across the country,” said Sonoma-Cutrer Pinot Noir Winemaker Zidanelia Arcidiacono. “It is an honor to work with No Kid Hungry to support their efforts to ensure kids get access to the meals they need.”
No Kid Hungry is a national campaign launched in 2010 by Share Our Strength, a nonprofit organization working to solve the problem of hunger and poverty. In addition to advocacy, research, and policy initiatives, No Kid Hungry works to provide children with free breakfast, lunch, and after-school meals, as well as nutrition programs, to empower families to learn to shop and cook healthier. According to the latest estimates, as many as 9 million children in the United States live in “food insecure” homes.
“The past few years have shown us that when we come together, we can make a difference in the lives of those around us”, said Woodford Reserve Assistant Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall. ”We hope consumers feel confident in their purchase of both Woodford Reserve and Sonoma-Cutrer, knowing that we are giving back to those in need this holiday season, and join us in supporting this great cause.”
“Every kid needs three meals a day to grow up healthy and strong, yet this holiday season and throughout the year, millions are missing out on those meals,” said Diana Hovey Senior Vice President at Share Our Strength, the organization behind the No Kid Hungry campaign. “This holiday season we’re so excited to have Sonoma-Cutrer and Woodford Reserve supporting No Kid Hungry for a fifth straight year. Their continued generosity is helping to ensure kids are getting access to those critical meals.”
