This act ensured that any whiskey bearing the name “Bottled-in-Bond” was produced by the same distiller, at the same distillery, during the same distilling season, aged for at least four years, unadulterated (except for water) and bottled at exactly 100 proof.
These regulations gave assurance to the consumers they were drinking an unadulterated whiskey and helped define the very American whiskeys we know and love today.

Whisky/Whiskey, American Whiskey, Bottled in bond, Bourbon, Brands, Dueling Grounds Distillery, AlcoholIn the 1820s, somewhere along a patch of grass at Linkumpinch Farm near present-day Franklin, Kentucky. Matters of honor were settled with the firing of pistols. A man’s reputation was restored when a musket ball found its target. And the area surrounding Sanford Duncan’s farm soon came to be known as the Dueling Grounds. These days, Franklin is home to far more agreeable activities. Forefather’s Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Whisky/Whiskey, American Whiskey, Bottled in bond, Bourbon, Brands, Randolph Rose Distilling Co., AlcoholForefather Whiskey was created in 1907 at the RM Rose Distillery in Gilmore, Georgia (Cobb County). They had four warehouses completely stocked with whiskey. Georgia went dry in 1908 forcing Randolph Rose to move all his operations and whiskey to Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Jacksonville, Florida. Randolph leased eleven train cars from the Western Atlantic Railroad to transport the whiskey 137 miles to Chattanooga. The whiskey was distributed from Florida to New York.
Yes, we added the “s” to the end of the Forefather name. Rufus Rose and Randolph Rose honored their Forefather and now we honor Rufus and Randolph by adding the “s”.
This is how we make it today: We use the finest grains, distill in a Copper Pot Still, age in an Oak Cask for a minimum of four years, and proof to 100.

George Dickel 12 Year Old Bottled in Bond Whisky
This Bottled in Bond release is one-of-a-kind, sourced from barrels laid down during a single distilling season and selected at peak maturity for a taste that’s unique, complex, and bold. Kinda like the people who made it.
In 1870, George A. Dickel began the journey leading to the creation of the best Tennessee whisky around. George discovered that his whisky made in the cold winter months tasted smoother.
Today we follow this tradition by chilling our whisky before filtering it through sugar-maple charcoal. We think our unique chilled filtration process makes a fine whisky, hope you agree.
