Sagamore Spirit Rum Cask Finish Rye
This second iteration of our Rum Cask Finish Rye Whiskey celebrates the innovation and creativity of our Sagamore Spirit Reserve Series. We aged our 5 and 6 year old straight rye whiskies in hand-selected barrels from South America and Jamaica for an additional 10 months and then blended them back together. The Jamaican rum barrel contributes notes of tropical fruits, balanced by the crisp dryness of the South American barrel – a unique combination enhancing the spice of our rye.

Sagamore Spirit Sofie Farmhouse Ale Cask Aged Rye
Goose Island Brewery in Chicago pioneered the process of aging beer in wine and whiskey barrels, so we jumped at the chance to experiment with their used Sofie Belgian Style Farmhouse Ale barrels. We aged our four-year-old Straight Rye Whiskey in these aromatic wine-turned beer barrels, intent on capturing the lingering notes of deep dried orange peel. The final product perfectly showcases the orange notes of Sofie and the clove and spice of our rye. Two great cities, one fantastic whiskey.

Sagamore Spirit Sour Ale Cask Finish Rye
Our 5-year-old blend of straight rye whiskies spent an additional 22 months in rye-turned beer barrels from Right Proper Brewing Co. Pairing sour beer barrels and rye whiskey creates a complex final product with fruit-forward notes of grapefruit and ripe berries with a sophisticated and smooth floral finish. Our Sagamore Spirit Reserve celebrates the legacy of Maryland distilling, with an unyielding focus on excellence from start to finish.

Sagamore Spirit Sour Ale Finish Rye Whiskey
Our friends at Sapwood Cellars in Columbia, Maryland are sour beer masters –Â always crafting something interesting. We shared a cognac barrel which they used to age a beer inspired by old-style European ales. When they checked on its progress, it was so singularly delicious they bottled it immediately, no blending or carbonation. When this 30+-year-old barrel came back for our secondary finishing, we wanted to make a whiskey just as distinctive. This Sour Ale Finish Rye Whiskey features a blend of our 5-6-year-old rye whiskies, aged an additional year and five months, imparting flavors of sour cherries and figs with candied nuts and rich vanilla on the nose.
Aged 5-6 years in charred new oak barrels. Aged 1 year & 5 months in Sour Ale barrels.

THE STORY
Our 5-yearold straight rye whiskey spent an additional 3 years and 3 months in Vino de Naranja casks. The resulting spirit is prefaced with pleasantly balanced flavors of cinnamon and vanilla orange blossom. The classic spice of our signature whiskey takes on tasting notes of orange zest, marzipan, and apricot marmalade pulled from the Vino de Naranja casks.
