Nelson’s Green Brier Bottled in Bond Tennessee Whiskey
This special expression of Nelson’s Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey recreates our founder Charles Nelson’s recipe, first released to the public in 1860. It is made with corn, wheat and malted barley and mellowed through a bed of sugar maple charcoal. This Tennessee Whiskey was crafted in a single distilling season at Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery in Nashville, Tennessee and aged for six years, adhering to the standards laid out by the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897.
The “Bottled In Bond” designation was originally intended to guarantee the quality and authenticity of whiskey, ensuring consumers knew they were getting a product that met certain standards. Today, bottled in bond whiskeys are often seen as a mark of quality and tradition, though they are less common than other types of whiskey due to the strict requirements they must meet. We invite you to raise a glass and enjoy this whiskey that’s as rich in history as it is in flavor.

A Watershed Effort
As part of the release, Athletic will be donating $15,000 from the Two for the Trails fund to SeaTrees to aid in their conservation efforts of the San Elijo Lagoon in Cardiff, CA. The funds will support the restoration of ~3,750 sq. feet of salt marsh, including the eradication of invasive plants and the procurement and planting of essential native species.

New England Barrel Co. The Cut Straight Bourbon

Each barrel used in our Small Batch Select Bourbon (Batch 2021-01 through 2021-04) rested once emptied – allowing the wood to relax and release the bourbon absorbed by the barrel itself. These barrels were then emptied a second time, the bourbon collected, and placed into an empty bourbon barrel where it was allowed to marry. The resulting whiskey is a unique, small batch of cask strength, Kentucky Bourbon.

New Holland Brett’s Barrel Single Malt Whiskey

With the help of some friends, he built a still from a soup kettle and began distilling the first batches of whiskey produced in Michigan since the end of prohibition in 1933. In an ongoing effort to discover new and better flavor, Brett and our distillers are continuing to experiment with whiskey and test new ingredients, techniques, and barrels. These bottlings are aptly named: Brett’s Barrel.
Each one unique; these bottlings are limited to just a few barrels and may never be seen or tasted again. The numbers and letters on this label represent the date code placed on the barrel when it was first filled with whiskey. We hope that each of these bottles provides you with new flavors that highlight the range of possibilities in the world of whiskey.
