The Macallan Concept Number 2, a travel retail exclusive, was revealed at the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes, France, last week. It will be available at key international airports starting January 2020 for around US$150. Whisky maker Steven Bremner used his passions for blending malts and mixing house music as his inspiration for the release. It’s first aged in Sherry-seasoned casks, and then ex-Bourbon barrels. Tasting notes include aromas of toffee apple, vanilla, oak spice and nutmeg, leading to flavours of toffee, dried apple, almond, cinnamon and wood spice on the palate. The finish is medium sweet with hints of spice and toffee.
